Climate: Greenland has an Arctic climate. Winters can be severe and the summers comparatively mild, particularly in areas which are sheltered from the prevailing winds. Precipitation, mostly snow, is moderately heavy around the coast. The north of the country, and much of the interior, enjoys true Arctic weather, with the temperature only rising above freezing for brief periods in the summer.

Greenland is, by area, the world's largest island that is not a continent. It is the least densely populated dependency or country in the world. In 1953, Greenland became a county, in principle on equal terms with the other Danish counties. Greenlandic opposition to Danish administration contributed to the introduction of home rule in 1979. Thanks to the ties with Denmark, Greenland was actually the fourth country in the world to establish a registered domestic partner law in 1996. Over a thousand participants to part in the first Pride event in Nuuk last May, turning it into the second largest demonstration in the nation’s history. There are very few places where gay men can meet in Greenland. This is mainly due to the sparse population as well as the long and dark winters and the lack of roads, boat being the most popular method of transportation in Greenland.Internet has become the most popular means of making contact.
