Reunion

The Réunion Islands are a French "Département d'Outre Mer". Legislation concerning homosexuality is the same as in France. The flight from Mauritius to the Réunion Islands takes only about a half an hour. The landscape is so beautiful that the trip is certainly worth it. Contrary to other destinations in the area, there is no violence towards homosexuals on the island. Reunion Island is a small paradise, where tradition and family values still run strong. It´s difficult for the locals (Creoles) to come out, because they are surrounded by their relatives, but they believe that diversity is a positive cultural value. On the other hand, French and foreign homosexuals do not pose a problem, even when it is comparatively visible.
